Development Associate

We are looking for a talented emerging screen development professional who understands the fundamental principles of story development to join our Development team in the newly created role of Development Associate.

Working closely with the Senior Development Executive and with the broader Development team, you will be responsible for allocated applications and funded projects across Screen Australia’s development funding programs and related programs and initiatives; on projects of any genre, platform or format.

This will be a hands-on and busy role in which you will be liaising with applicants on an individual basis, providing information and advice to assist with applications and projects, assessing applications, preparing funding recommendation reports and papers, while also overseeing the development of funded projects you are allocated and managing these through to completion.

You will also have a focus on identifying and supporting new creative talent.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have screen or arts industry experience as a content maker in roles such as a writer, developer and/or producer. You will have well developed script or story analysis and development skills, and good creative judgement. You will also need to be adept in effective time management and managing your own administrative duties.

The Role:
Actively engage in the domestic & international content market in search of new IP, formats and ideas that would fit Channel Seven’s ongoing programming needs
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of content trends (across all mediums), popular culture, world news & fast-changing audience needs
Regularly update executive staff with all relevant industry news & format commissions from both Australia and around the world
