Video Shooter / Editor

The newly-formed Current Affairs Digital Team is on the hunt for a passionate, creative camo/editor to help us tell the human stories behind the news.
These are the brands you’ll get to work on;

The Feed is SBS VICELAND’s flagship news, current affairs and satire program. The show is a solid blend of hard-hitting investigations, entertainment interviews, comedy and human-centered feature stories for young Australians.
Dateline is one of the most-awarded and longest-running current affairs programs in Australia. Reporters scour the globe to deliver long-form international documentaries about family, social injustice, identity, tragedy, redemption and survival.
Insight is a special-issue forum program hosted by Gold Walkley-winner Jenny Brockie. From what it’s like dating after 60 to what it’s like being the child of a prisoner, our guests share their first-hand experiences of confronting and taboo issues.

This is your opportunity
You’ll be working mainly on locally-produced, digital-first video and your creative input will be highly valued. You’ll get to work on a broad mix of videos – from studio interviews to social media compilation videos to field packages – but one thing will remain constant: all of our videos tell the human story at the heart of an issue.

These are the skills you’ll need
You will have a solid working knowledge of a Canon EOS C200. You will know how to capture clean audio and light a studio interview. You will have an eye for the little details about a character that bring a profile piece to life. You can layer sound and music in a way that makes audiences feel something; and you can construct dynamic overlay sequences that move a story forward in pictures. Advanced Adobe Premiere Pro knowledge is also essential; some Photo Shop skills are a bonus. Our stories take us away from our Artarmon headquarters, so you will need a car and driver’s licence, and be prepared to work some weekends.

This is what it’s like to work at SBS
SBS has a strong mandate to support, celebrate and appreciate the diversity of Australia’s diverse society. Our purpose is to inspire social cohesion. SBS is an increasingly important voice in mainstream media that helps blend universal Australian values and stories with those of the migrant, Indigenous and diverse communities.
We can offer you a competitive salary, and provide you a fun and dynamic environment with a friendly, inclusive and high-performing team. We offer free gym membership and meaningful workplace flexibility.
This is how you can apply
If you’re a clever and creative camo who’s calm under pressure and fun to work with, then you should apply for this gig as soon as possible. Send through your resume and a short cover letter that includes a link to your show reel.
