Are you an experienced Producer with a genuine passion in children’s television? Do you have a deep understanding and dedication to create and build authentic content for the needs of our audience?

Join our fantastic Children’s department based in Melbourne. We are seeking an energetic person who will create, script and direct sophisticated and original content. Reporting to the Series Producer, and from time to time the Executive Producer, you will:

Create, write, direct and produce educational and entertaining field and studio content.

Identify and suggest and generate original and relevant story ideas.
Plan and manage the use of program resources, including assigned staff to achieve delivery deadlines and within budget.
Direct work of field and studio crews and post production team.
Create risk assessments for field and studio shoots.
Develop online content within a multi-platform environment.

About You

You will be highly organised, good at deadlines, have a good eye for detail. Autonomous, you will also have an extensive experience across multiple projects in various stages of the production process as well as demonstrated positive collaboration across a diverse variety of teams.

Ability to write, direct and produce stories and segments of a high production standard.
Strong narrative skills and sound editorial judgement.
Experience in both studio and field production and directing talent.
A commitment to, innovation in a multiplatform content and delivery environment.
Editing and self-shooting skills a bonus.
A current working with children/police clearance is an essential requirement for this position. The incumbent will be required to re-new any clearance in keeping with the relevant legislation.

Create, script and direct sophisticated and original content for our target audience within the ABC Children’s department.

Key Accountabilities:

 Create, write, direct and produce educational and entertaining field and studio content.
 Generate original story ideas, identify and suggest relevant content ideas for our target audience.
 Plan and manage the use of program resources, including assigned staff to achieve delivery deadlines and within
budget.
 Direct work of field and studio crews and post production team.
 Ensure all aspects of Rights Management are acted upon – e.g RFT’s, release forms, permits, music cue sheets.
 Create risk Assessments for field and studio shoots.
 Develop online content within a multi-platform environment.
 Actively promote the ABC values and apply all relevant workplace policies and guidelines.
 All ABC staff are required to cooperate with any reasonable instruction, procedure or policy relating to safety,
and take reasonable care for their own safety and that of other persons who may be affected by their conduct
while at work. Additional WHS responsibilities apply to Managers and Supervisors, Divisional Directors and
Other Officers.
Key Capabilities/Qualifications/Experience:
1. Demonstrated ability to write, direct and produce stories and segments of a high production standard.
2. Extensive experience and knowledge of all areas of the production process.
3. Highly organised and able to implement timelines and schedules.
4. Have strong narrative skills and sound editorial judgement.
5. Editing and self -shooting skills a bonus.
6. Demonstrated experience in both studio and field production and directing talent.
7. Effective leadership, managerial and communication skills.
8. An understanding of rights management and appropriate paperwork obtained.
9. An awareness of and commitment to, innovation in a multiplatform content and delivery environment.
10. A current Working With Children Check or a suitable candidate.
11. An understanding of and commitment to the ABC’s aims, objectives and workplace values, together with
relevant policies and guidelines including Editorial Policies, Child Protection Policy, Equity and Diversity, WH&S.

6 Month contract based in Elsternwick, Melbourne.
