Great opportunity to manage SBS’s Entertainment and Food portfolio
Work with a passionate organisation that makes a difference
Competitive remuneration and Artarmon location.

About the role
The role of Commissioning Editor of Entertainment and Food is at the heart of an exciting and high profile content area of SBS. This role encompasses SBS Entertainment’s major marquee events, such as the Eurovision Song Contest and Mardis Gras. It’s also responsible for SBS Food, where we commission some of Australia’s best food programs that are  delivered across platforms including broadcast and online.

It’s a large and diverse portfolio; you’ll work with the Head of Unscripted to ensure that our content priorities and the editorial strategy are aligned. You’ll inspire and engage independent producers by articulating the editorial priorities, and work with them to create and develop ideas that meet our audiences’ needs.

You’ll also provide creative leadership to the development process, encouraging risk taking and innovation whilst maintaining expertise to identify trends and opportunities for outstanding content.  You’ll balance your editorial nous with ensuring programs are compliant and that the financial slate you are accountable for is delivered successfully, and that commissions demonstrate value for money, quality and originality.

About you
We are looking for a highly creative thinker who has worked on a range of distinctive television and online content.  You have worked at a Broadcaster or within the Production community, managing the editorial and financial sensitivities of high profile projects, including developing and managing presenters and talent to produce exciting and high quality content.

To be successful, you have held positions as an Executive Producer either within Food, Factual Entertainment or Live entertainment, and have extensive knowledge and experience in the Australian TV industry and landscape.

If you are passionate about telling stories that reflect our diverse world, we’d love to hear from you.

The benefits
Fantastic culture
Onsite health and wellbeing programs (weekly yoga classes, massages)
Free onsite parking, onsite, free gym membership, retail discounts at a variety of chain stores, and an active social club
Being part of an organisation dedicated to making a positive social difference
SBS aims to inspire all Australians to explore and appreciate our diverse world and by doing so contribute to a cohesive society. It’s a purpose which drives and motivates our team and the reason we love doing what we do.
